FAQ

It’s not every day that you get professional photos taken so its only natural that you will have a few questions about the process. We’ve included some of the most common questions here, however, if you have any other queries please feel free to contact us.

Q: How long does the classic portrait session take?
A: Allow up to 3 hours for the full experience with us on the day. Your portrait session will be followed by your design consultation (with a break in between). After your guided portrait session with our photographer, there will be a break while your portraits are prepared into a personalised presentation ready for you to view at your design consultation. No waiting to see your beautiful portraits - you will view and place your order on the same day! How cool is that?!

Q: How long does the fine art portrait session take?

A: Allow up to 1.5 hours for the portrait experience with us on the day. Your design consultation will be a week later so we can prepare your portraits ready for viewing. Your personalised presentation at your design consultation will take up to 1.5 hours and this is when you place your order.

Q: Can we come in on a weekend?
A: Yes – we currently offer one weekend a month however, they do book up quickly. Saturdays are reserved for full family sessions. Our weekday sessions are available on Wednesdays,  Thursdays and Fridays and are a chance to book a family day and to do something a bit special.

Q: Will we have to pose?
A: Only if you want to! Generally, our style is very candid and natural however sometimes it is helpful if we guide you a bit more so that you know what to do. Don’t worry – the end result will look very natural and relaxed – head over to the galleries to see some examples.

Q: What if our baby/toddler/dog doesn’t want to co-operate?
A: We hear this question almost every day! Don’t worry – we are  toddler-wranglers from way back and generally have a few ricks up our sleeves to get those cute and natural smiles. The main thing is to let them be themselves and let our photographer guide them – children often respond very differently to a stranger than to their parents.

Q: How do we book in our Newborn session when bubs isn’t here yet?
A: We simply secure your due date in the calendar and then when bubs is born we schedule your session – we normally see you in the first 1-2 weeks for the tiny sleepy photos.

Q: Can we book hair and makeup with you?
A: Absolutely! We work with a number of amazing freelance artists who know our studio, style and what will photograph best in our environment. We highly recommend booking in some pampering for Mum – this is best booked at the same time as the session.

Q: Is there a minimum spend? How much will our classic portrait session cost?
A: No – We don’t have a minimum spend and you don’t need to decide anything until you view your portraits at your Design Consultation. However, we do recommend that you have a good idea where you would love to display your portraits in your home as this makes selection easier.

Prices range from $350 for a beautifully matted Museum Grade Portrait to our Premium Portrait Collections and Fine Art Portrait Collections. Most families tend to invest between $1500 and $3500, we recognise that every family is different.  During your design consultation we will help you find the perfect portrait collection for your home and there's no obligation to choose anything other than what you love on the day.

Q: Do you offer payment options?
A: Should you find that you simply can’t leave something behind, we are happy to discuss payment options with you.

We accept eftpos, Visa, MasterCard, Gem Visa, Farmers Card, Afterpay* and Zip*. We can also offer up to 24 months of interest-free payments through Q Card finance* (orders over $1000 will be eligible for 12 months interest-free terms and orders over $2000 will be eligible for 24 months interest-free). If you wish to take advantage of the interest-free options through Q-card then we recommend applying for pre-approval to make the process more streamlined on the day. You can apply for pre-approval with Q Card online. All your artworks will come finished and ready for display - simply choose the pieces that are perfect for your home. You can see more of our portrait art displays on our website as well as some information on various investment options.
*Terms, Conditions and credit and lending criteria apply. Please refer to the official product websites for full terms and conditions.

Q: What do we wear for a classic session?
A: The best recommendation is to keep everyone in the same tonal range – i.e. – everyone in darks, or lights or pastel colours for example. Ensuring that everyone is cohesive and no one stands out or looks out of place. You may choose to dress up in more formal attire, or if you feel more comfortable you can dress in jeans/tees for a more relaxed look to your portraits. Read more about what to wear here.

Q: Do we need to bring props etc for our session?
A: If you have something special you would like us to include we can do this happily – some examples are a favourite toy, a musical instrument if this important to the family, sporting outfits or equipment – anything that helps show who you all are can be a lot of fun to include. However, please don’t feel that this is necessary – we do just as many portrait sessions without props as well!

Q: What shall we bring to the session?
A: Feel free to bring a change of clothes for different looks during the session. It can be a good idea to bring snacks and water for the children and a favourite toy for the little ones. Treats for any fur babies is also recommended.

Q: Can we purchase the digital copies of our prints?
A: Absolutely! While we specialise in producing beautiful and meaningful artworks for your home, we understand that you may wish to reprint your favourites for family members so we have a number of digital add-ons that allow you to do this. Please note that we don’t offer digital options on their own, but as copies of purchased artworks.

Q: What happens once we decide we want a portrait session?
A: We’ll have a discussion with you on the phone to learn what is important to you and how you’d like to be photographed. We’ll book you in and your session will be confirmed with your session fee over the phone. We’ll begin planning how your portraits will look and go over any ideas you may have.

Q: How far in advance do we have to book?
A: Sometimes we have sessions available immediately however usually you will need to book two to three weeks in advance. Newborn sessions are best booked several months in advance before the baby is born to ensure there is space in the calendar if you wish to capture the sleepy stage. This means you have time to plan ahead and can be assured that you won’t miss out on capturing such a precious time. Due to the unpredictable arrivals of newborns, we have limited newborn sessions available per month.
