Your Fine Art Portrait Experience

Before Your Session

Your full Fine Art Portrait experience takes place over two appointments 1.5hours each a week apart. We allow up to 1.5 hours for the full fine art portrait session experience with us on the day and will ask that ALL visitors show their current Vaccine Pass upon entry for those over 12 years and 3 months old. Your Portrait Session will be followed by your Design Consultation approximately a week later. Be sure to clear your personal and professional calendars for the full 1.5 hours so you can fully immerse yourself in this special experience without distractions. We ask that all decision makers are present at both appointments for the full experience on both days.

Prior to coming in for your session we will start planning your portraits over the phone. This is where we discover what is truly important to you and we begin to design how your finished portraits might look. Things to think about are – do you love intimate portraits or do you like a classic style where you see everyone’s faces?  You may want to think about where and how you’d love to display your finished portraits, so we get an idea of how to photograph you. For example – do you prefer a collection of portraits or single larger feature frames?
This is also where we answer the questions you may have and guide you through what to bring, what to wear and styling ideas. For our Fine Art experience we recommend full formal wear including hair and makeup. We do have a few gowns and smaller child options in medium sizes.

Handy hint – think about the colours of the room you want to display your portraits in – then choose colours to incorporate into your session so that the finished portraits blend seamlessly into your décor. For example – if you have red cushions or accents in your chosen room, consider bringing a pop of red into your clothing to tie in with your décor. For our Fine Art Portrait sessions we allow an additional outfit change so feel free to bring lighter colour options as well as darker.

Your Portrait Session

Your session will be at our beautiful studio in Bishopdale. During this time you will be guided and photographed while we capture the details of your family in a beautiful fully posed style.

Our style is guided and we will pose you to ensure that your portraits look great but also keeping that natural connection as well.

Newborn sessions tend to take a little longer so that there is plenty of time for feeds, cuddles, changes and more cuddles as bubs needs.

Your Design Consultation

Your Design Consultation is scheduled a week after your Portrait Session so we have time to work on the images and will take up to 1.5 hours. The Design Consultation is the best part of the whole experience. This is where you get to see the moments we captured, and your portraits are projected larger than life in your own private movie screening. (Handy hint – tissues are often required as this can be beautifully emotional)

During your Design Consultation you will be able to select as few or as many portraits as you desire (be prepared to love most of them!) and then you choose how you’d like them to be displayed in your home.

Your order is placed at your design consultation, and we are not able to offer more than one appointment for each session - we therefore ask that all decision-makers be present at this time.

Designing Your Artwork

If you are planning on designing something specific for a room in your home – be sure to send a photo of the wall / space you have in mind. We can then design your artwork directly onto the wall so there is no guesswork about the end result.

Your finished artwork will then take between two and six weeks before it is ready for collection.
